As is usual this posting is a matter of rumour, allegation, anecdote, observation and historical memory.
Cameron Geddes -
This we believe is a very complex and somewhat disturbed and worrying young man.
If we were to go back to the great battle of 1994 for the vacant parliamentary seat of Barking we start to see the cracks in his character show. After loosing to M Hodge he vowed hatred of her for ever more, and would do anything he could to have nothing what so ever to do with her.
We are reliably informed that during election times he would not campaign for her, put a leaflet out nothing.
So what changed?
As there are in all politics there was a shift within the labour group to the left, the left were far more community minded, they represented what they saw as the voice of the community, not offering, as Cameron had done for many years the paternalistic view that he knew best.
He made some bad choices in his friendships, which in one instance left him totally exposed and feeling the anger of many of his colleagues.
Liam Smith came forward and became the Deputy Leader of the Labour Group, Cameron could we suggest see this coming, knew he was going to be taken out so to speak, and rather than stand and fight the challenge slunk off into the political wilderness.
In 2006 with a new but slightly smaller Labour majority the labour group took a refreshing and bold step forward, under the Leadership of Charles Fairbrass and Dep Leader Liam Smith the battle lines were drawn, Barking & Dagenham council were going to do things in a more modern and open way and would succeed even with 12 BNP councillors.
Cameron we would suggest would never have wanted to make these changes, he was cosy and safe the way things were, but, Cameron is one of these people that does hold long seated grudges and his hatred for Liam Smith must now we suggest outweigh his past hatred of Margaret Hodge.
Camerons time in the political wilderness we understand has not improved his social skills at all, it is said that he much prefers the company of a bottle or 2 and his playstation in his flat in the evenings rather than human company. Some female members even discribe him as creepy.
So lets come up to date, why did M Hodges North Street mafia want to bring Cameron back into the fold, the answer we hear is very simple, the mafia long term plan had been that Darren Rodwell would be the new Leader of Barking & Dagenham Council in 2010 with Evelyn Carpenter as his Deputy, but they found out that Darren cannot read we understand, so they had to go shopping for a credible replacement and zeroed in on Cameron.
Cameron almost bit their hands off at the chance of taking out Liam Smith, which of course he wouldnt have to do on his own.
But questions do remain, when you consider that every candidate that was interviewed to go onto the panel had to demonstrate what campaigning they had been doing, Cameron has done none at all.
Just what has he done since his selection? Or as may just be the case will he be quite happy to take the title, the money and allow George Shaw to run Thames Ward?
Some little while ago when Cameron was criticised on another blog, a firm defence came in that he was one of the "good guys". Does that person still believe that?
We are just of the opinion that any young man who has never held down a proper job, who spends his evenings alone in his flat with his booze and his playstation, who in the past has had a nasty habit of sending female members inappropriate christmas presents, especially to married female members of fish net stockings with bottles of vodka poked into them.
Is this really the kind of outstanding member of the community that Thames ward want to replace the likes of Fred Barns and Joan Rawlinson?
As usual this post is a matter of rumour, anecdote, observation, allegations and historical memory.
Hang about. Charlie Fairbrass:
ReplyDelete"Refreshing" "Bold" "Modern".
Are you off your rocker? The most modern thing Charlie has ever done is ask his secretary to send a fax.
There are also unconfirmed rumours that he once used a cash machine when the bank was shut and he needed to put a bet on.
Your comments only go to prove that you dont know Charles Fairbrass as well as you think you do.
ReplyDeleteI am just trying to collect my thoughts about the latest posting. To say that I am astounded is the understatement of the year.Where do I begin ?.
ReplyDeleteCameron is not a young man, he is 50 !.He stood down as Deputy Leader well before Liam was anywhere near it !.Terry Wade replaced him and then lost to the BNP.
I can vouch that he does not 'hate' Liam Smith, this is an absurd notion.
He stood down from the Council and worked for a political consultancy in Westminster and then, very successfully, as political advisor to Thurrock Labour Group. His reasons for standing down are his own, but probably fatigue with the Labour Group is the best guess.
It is an unfortunate fact that Cameron was one of the few Cllrs that you could actually call a politician, most of the rest treated the Council as some kind of club !.
I think you have crossed the line from reasonable comment to character assassination.
I think when Charlie Fairbrass sees this he is going to hit the roof, he had alot of respect for Cameron. He is also well respected in London.
Please think long and hard about what you put on this blog.I am sympathetic to your aims but the means is staring to look a bit sour, if this post is anything to go by !.
'As there are in all politics there was a shift within the labour group to the left, the left were far more community minded, they represented what they saw as the voice of the community, not offering, as Cameron had done for many years the paternalistic view that he knew best.'
ReplyDeleteAnd this bit is absolute fantasy. The 'shift to the Left' as you put it was brought about by Charlie's Leadership and the Modernising Agenda.Cameron was Deputy Leader for a number of years in partnership with Charlie. They both championed modernisation and the Council today is largely the creation of a group of enlightened members and officers.
Anon, thank you for your views posted on the 28th. Where they differ to the points in our original posting we feel may be because we have as always canvassed a number of people for their views on the individual before posting.
ReplyDeleteWhat one person may view as character assasination another may see entirely justified.
We as a group only post as we always say what is picked up as rumour, anecdote, observation, allegation and historical memory.
Some of us remember him when he was known as
ReplyDeleteCharlie Fairbrass and we know him well! Is this what you mean by being refreshingly bold and modern?
As far as Liam Smith is concerned isn't he unemployed and has six or is it seven children? Now there's nothing against having a large family provided the tax payer doesn't have to foot the bill. Also wasn't Liam Smith a Liberal Democrat until he crossed the floor? It is also rumoured that he doesn't give a damn for the people in Barking favouring those in Dagenham! Why not give us a potted history of Liam Smith's time in the Barking Labour Group so that we can make our own judgement as to whether he is indeed refreshing, bold and modern!
Come on Barkingstruelabourpartymembers let's be objective, your piece on Cameron Geddes was unsavoury and uncalled for. I too am disappointed by your posting on Cameron, I thought better of you. Please don't spoil the great job you have been doing.
Val Rush and company, will soon be unemployed, and unemployable. The gravy train has stopped. You must disembark, the journey you had, is over. You most certainly were not as good at being Councillors as you thought.
ReplyDeleteNow your husband must purchase his own drink, if you will let him, mind you, you would be much safer, that being the case.
The people you are trying to hurt, will rise above it, but sadly, you have sunk to new lows
where even the worms a
Wow! Politics in the UK does sink very low!
ReplyDeleteWell anon @ 12.10 when you are trying to get under the belly of a snake you go as low as you have to.
ReplyDeleteWe will rock you
