A MUSLEM POINT OF VIEW

Overnight we have been in discussions with a number of muslem party members who are they tell us shamed by what has gone on in Abbey ward and Gascoigne ward, and that they wanted their voices to be heard. Mustaq Ahmed has agreed on their behalf for his name to go on this piece. As much as we can it is written in their own words and style, we have tried to be as respectful as we can be they have all seen this and agreed the content.

Many of us who live in Barking wish to live at peace with our neighbours. Many of us were brought here as children and have grown up and enjoyed the freedom that this great country offers and until now the friendship of peoples in Abbey and Gascoigne.

What many do not understand is why we left Pakistan, it was not only to make a better life for ourselves, but also important that we make a better life for our wives and daughters. We want our daughters and our wives to have the education and the freedoms from the very restrictions they would face in our homeland.

We also wanted to leave behind the very very corrupt and violent politics that happens in Pakistan. And for many years living in Barking we have enjoyed these freedoms. Our fears now are that the corrupt politics of pakistan have now come to Barking our homes. Our fears are that our friends and neighbours will turn against us because of this, we do not want this change.

We are happy with the councillors we voted for and who have worked hard for us to be accepted into the community. What will these imposters do we asks, that shameful woman Butt, that very nasty and dangerous man Aziz, yes he is and serious questions need to be asked about him. We know but because of our families we have to take great care.

Many of us who are party members who supported our councillors will not stay in a corrupt party this is not what we left Pakistan for.

We do all of us support the campaign you are running but you must see that we have to take care.

Mustaq Ahmed

As we have said we have tried as best we can to cover the points that were raised, obviously you will understand that we have had to condense a lot of what was said, otherwise it could very well have run into pages. We admire this group for speaking out, and especially the named person who has allowed their name to go onto the posting. There is an awful lot here that needs some very serious thinking about.

  1. Please correct the spelling of the word 'Muslim'it devalues the whole article.

  2. Firstly can we apologies to all of our readers for the spelling mistake, we are experiencing computer problems at the moment so we are unable to make the necessary corrections.

We have of course contacted our Muslim colleagues, who wanted their voices heard, and offered our apologies to them, they have stated to us that they realise it was a genuine mistake, and that no offence was ment at all.

They have taken the view that even though our spelling may not be what it should, it has not devalued what they wanted to say. And they truly hope that their friends in Barking and Dagenham understand how they feel.

  3. I would most certainly, being a betting man, place a lot of money on the fact that the "alleged" letter from a Pakistani gentleman, was in fact written by one of the group of, what shall I call them ... mixers.
The Pakistanis I know write anything like that.

  4. We are sorry, but we are unable to prove or disapprove your comments re mixers. We were asked to put this forward and have taken it on face value, if you anon or others believe it could be something else then please let us know.

The last thing we would want is someone stirring up another mess.
