JUST SOME UPDATED NEWS

We have learned some interesting facts today, that could possibly also interest the North Street mafia.

It appears that Tenants and Residents Associations are signed up to be non political, and having checked this out with find that the majority of them have this in their Constitutions, so do many other voluntary sector organisations.

So we suppose the question to be asked is, if you are on the committee or hold a position in any of these organisations, and had been selected to run for a place on the Council would you now not have to resign? and put some distance between yourself and that organisation? not like one of the candidates who has been selected, who allegedly resigned from his position as Chairman, but is still seen in the local press etc as the spokesman for the association.

Most would recognise that you do have to abide by the constitution of the group you were involved with.

  1. I have been involved with community groups for a few years now and I understand how constitutions apply. Unfortunately you have your facts slightly wrong (as usual). Constitutions do vary as these groups are independent entities who are answerable only to the community that they represent, yes they would have to resign their position but only as and when they are elected as a councillor, up until that point they have the choice in what they want to do as long as their own political views are not aired within the organisation, as the meetings would be seen to be a political platform and as these organisations are non political this would breach the constitution so I would sugg est you do your research properly for once.

  2. You do seem to come up with some weird and wonderful names for yourselves, but, there you go, once again speaking as though you are an authority, but, failing to follow through.

Giving the impression that you are the font of all knowledge on constitutions etc and as they apply to electoral law.

Please go back and read again, it is a matter of public perception and perceived interest.
Once an individual is declared as a Candidate for a political party, and for an upcoming election then therefore it could reasonably be perceived that as an officer of a TRA or other body, that there could be a political agenda.

Its all a matter of reasonablness, and how the opposition parties would view it.

So I would suggest in this instance you do your research properly.

  3. well mr nightshift worker,if that is the case,
was you aware that a certain deselected cllr was a tra chair right up until he was elected in 2006,I did not hear any cries of unfairness then,so like I said its up to the individual and the commitee of the organisation to decide what is best, and nothing to do with any political parties,so I suggest you do your homework properly,as it is obvious that you have never been involved in any community run groups, thank god

  4. You lot just dont get it do you. Just because you have so far managed to break the rules in the Labour Party and get away with it you think you are untouchable.

Well think again, you and your corrupt little chums are playing in a different set of rules, you have been announced as candidates so now the rules do apply and you and your little chums will find they do have to step down.

Check out the what rules apply when circumstances change mate before you come on here with your stupid name and your nasty little digs.
