THE CHARITY COMMISSION

We have been informed that the office of DABD in Barking Town Centre is a hive of political campaigning.

It is said that Darren Rodwell and Dominic Twomey both work for DABD which is a registered charity and is also funded by the local authority.

Now it seems that their office has become one centre of operation for Barking Labour Party.

Perhaps Mr Rodwell and Mr Twomey should read the rules of the Charity Commission especially those that relate to political activity.

  1. Nice to see some political activity happening in the borough, it has been sorely missed over the last decade at council level.

I am sure that the said individuals are clear on the rules. I don't think it would be the first time that an individual from a charity was also a local authority councillor in this and other boroughs.

I would imagine that these type of people are ideal for councillors, in terms of wanting to help people within the community with their problems.

Did'nt Dominic Twomey stand for Labour in 2006? Was his office not a hive of political activity then?

  2. anon @ 06.26 really missed the point of the posting, which was not question whether or not a councillor can be an employee of a charity, what I believe the posting was in fact questioning was the use of the DABD office in Barking town centre for political activity.

Think mate you will find that this is a clear breach of the charity commission rules which they protect to the hilt.

And anyway would have thought DABD would want to be keeping its head down at the moment, I hear its in enough trouble with the law.

  3. does anyone know what sort of political activity the office is being used for mate?

think mate that you missed the point in my posting, second question i asked was very clear "was the office not a hive of political activity in 2006 when he stood?

Cllr Rush was working as barking election agent surely it would have been questioned then, was it?

  4. "Dagenham Member" you seem to know a lot about all the stories on this blog... looking through them.

Please tell us all what they have been up to that as broken the law with DABD?
